In the last month or so I wanted to create
something using a completely different medium.
I decided to get out my paints and brushes
and see where things went. This is what happened, a fun mixed media painting
using acrylics, sparkly nail varnish, stencils and fantasy film.
I started by creating a background and adding
highlights of nail varnish, I then cut a stencil of the background birch trees
and used acrylic to put them in. When it
was dry I used more nail varnish to add the highlights.
Cutting out the front trees from acetate I
painted one side, glued them to the painting and used very tiny balls to stick
them onto the branches of the trees for colour and texture. I added some grass put on with a palate knife
and finished it all off with some leaves and flowers, again made from fantasy
film.
I just had so much fun doing this picture;
using mediums I haven’t used in a long time so do let me know what you think of
the end result.
