Bike Christmas Cards

 Morning all

Something a little different from Fuzzy Designs (a wholly owned subsidiary of Briar Patch Designs!) this week – bike themed Christmas cards.

Because we were never able to find a reliable source of bike-related Christmas cards, we’ve made a new card each year ourselves to send to friends. Recently, we’ve printed up a few batches to sell at craft fairs and they seem really popular so we thought, why not make them available through the website? Full details are on the “Bike Christmas Cards” page but these are some of the cards currently on offer.

If you think you’d like something a bit different to send out at Christmas this year, please contact us to let us know what want and we can sort out payment via Paypal or cheque.

Animal Headbands

Hi Everyone

Over the summer I have noticed that headbands are all the rage and I decided to give in to the trend and have a go for myself.  I found some patterns and below you will see the results of my labours.

I have made bears, kittens, unicorns, rabbits, foxes and peacocks - all of which I love, so let me know what you think.

Fuzzy Design Spanner Art

Good morning

Back by popular demand (well, his demand at least), this week’s blog has been taken over once again by my partner in crime at Fuzzy Designs – I’ll let him explain what’s been going on.

When I started doing spanner art the original idea was to try and make the spanners look semi-lifelike so I concentrated on subjects like fishes, birds or even dragons. When I received another batch recently I thought it might be fun to just let the spanners be spanners and integrate them into the artwork. You can be the judge as to how successful I’ve been.

The idea for this piece had been rumbling around in my head for ages but it was surprisingly difficult to find three different size spanners, none of which had any Branding on one side. Once that hurdle was overcome, it was relatively quick to letter the spanners and place them on a suitably distressed background.

This adjustable wrench is massive, over eighteen inches long when fully extended. Because the wrench is asymmetric, I decided the background should be too - although I did use the same colour pinstriping on the wrench and background to help tie things together.

I am a huge fan of Piet Mondrian, the abstract artist, and these three small spanners (apparently used to construct bedsteads) seemed to need nothing more than a very simple background – and what’s more simple than a Mondrian painting? In the unlikely event of this ever being displayed in a gallery, I think it would have to be called “Composition with spanners. No.3”!

As always please let me know what you think of this load of old spanners.

Glass Bees

Good Afternoon

Sorry I am late in posting today, computer problems which are now rectified thank goodness.

So today I am showing you a necklace and ear rings which I made on commission.  The client owned a necklace made of beautiful blown glass, but didn’t like the style so asked for a redesign using the same elements.

The original was made with intricate seed beads which I removed and then created the neckline with 12mm yellow and white Druzy stones, interspersing the beyond-gorgeous blown glass. I decided to highlight the bees by having them eating from blackberries made of small black agates.

It was so much fun to do and be trusted by the client to have free rein. Please let me know what you have been making - as I have been having loads of fun.

I will be at the Royal Manx Agricultural Show on 9th & 10th, Friday & Saturday so if you are attending drop by and say hello.
